Built by Frank Curtis an inventor from Newburyport for a wealthy client who didn’t pay making it not only one of the first horseless carriages (steam-powered) but also the first car repossession. Photo was taken on Unicorn St. “In 1866 Mr. Curtis made perhaps the most important of his many inventions in the application of steam motive power to steam fire engines. He also constructed one of the first, if not the first, steam automobiles, which in those early times was not favored by the public on the public streets.”
